Prevent Further Complications

Lymphedema can cause the skin to become prone to injury and infection.  An injury or infection can cause further damage to the lymphatic system in the affected area.  Broken skin can lead to possible infections.  The longer a person has uncontrolled lymphedema the more the skin changes.
